The Fibercane Polo Mallet
The next generation of
polo mallets
The
unsustainable and dwindling supplies of the worlds manau cane from
which traditional polo mallets are made, has only fuelled George Woods
determination to make a superior mallet.
Finally, after 21 years of experimentation
and development and 81 models later, we've done it!........

The
"feel" of cane
These radical
hybrid shafts are the beginning of the end for cane mallets. They have a solid shaft made from a hand laid resin impreganted silk fibers structured on a layer of carbon to maximise torsional strength and fiber glass for impact strength. Silk is is the strongest natural fiber known to man. They're lighter and stronger than before and feel like canes and yet outperform them in every way. The average total mallet weight with a 200 gram head is 535 grams despite the molded handle being approximately 30 grams heavier than a traditional handle.
Larger
sweet spot
Opposing 45 degree wraps of carbon on the larger diameter shafts have increased the torsional strength and allow less twist with
off center hits therefore increasing the sweetspot considerably and producing a more "solid" feel.
Minimized
vibration
Vibration reduction
technology has been used in the form of a foam core to minimize the
magnitude and frequency transmission of vibrations to the handle.
This not only gives a jar free performance but decreases the likelihood
of the shaft being shattered by impact.
The chart below shows a typical decrease
in the magnitude of impact vibrations between hollow and foam filled
shafts.

The result, all the benefits of a
composite mallet that feels like cane but offering the consistency,
power, control and strength of modern technology.
These
mallets have evolved from the Graflite mallet which was the worlds
most popular composite mallet. They are marginally heavier than the
Graflite and are designed to carry medium to heavywieght
heads and are suitable for polo at
all levels. The market responce in worldwide has been quite overwhelming. Polo legend Memo Gracida says "They're fantastic, Well done George, You've done it!" His brother Carlos also uses them shown here playing for Ellerston in the Gold Cup UK. A rapidly growing number of players of all levels are realising the advantages which the Fibercane offers.
Stronger
By reducing the harmonics of the vibration, the shaft is much less likley to shatter. The organic materials allow for much greater flex upon impact.
Recent workshop tests have shown them to be considerably stronger than any other mallet on the market.

Everlasting molded handle
A revolutionary new molded handle is now available. It's simply the best polo mallet handle ever made. The sling can be adjusted or replaced simply by removing two screws. An over molded soft feel comfort grip should outlast any other conventional grip. Totally impervious, it can be washed in between games if required. There are two sizes, medium and large.
