George, Our Evolution Mallets arrived last week, what beauties!
I put a nice oil finish on mine and I must say, it is one fine piece of wood, not to mention its' playing capabilities. Everyone is delighted with the way they look and play. I'm sure you will be getting more orders in the near future from our club members. It wasn't that great of an adjustment, going from the 9" to 12" of course it has a much better feel, and my long roquets are improving each day, but my apprehension over mis-hits from "stubbing" the mallet head was misplaced. I'm so glad that our research brought us to your web-site.
It just goes to show, "you can still get really great quality, at a reasonable price, if you find the right master craftsman! Thanks Again.

Thought you might like to hear about your mallet results at the 10th Annual Dorthy Fosse Invitational. There were 34 players from Florida, Texas, Arizona, North and South Carolina, and one from Ontario, Canada. Nine of the competitors were using the Evolution! Of the 5 trophies our club brought home, 4 were won with your Evolution. First Flight, 3rd place, Second Flight, 2nd and 3rd place, Third Flight, 1st place. Not a bad showing! Of course we have taken your mallets to other events, but not in these numbers, usually one or two maybe three.
Our club loves your Evolution, please keep up the great work and craftsmanship.

George, Just wanted to send you a quick note. We continue to be very pleased with our Wood mallets. They make a world of difference with the fine quality and craftsmanship. This year we had a family sweep at our local tournament. My teammate and I outlasted and outplayed 100 teams to win the championship in the adult division and my daughter and her partner won the youth division championship. Keep up the good work George.... We love our mallets!!!!

I've been meaning to write you for several days to let you know how well the mallets you sent us have served us. Two weeks ago we played our first USCA sanctioned tournament using the mallets and I'm pleased (and proud) to report that we placed second! We were overjoyed, first time out with a new mallet, we expected it was going to require more adjustment time.
We were also very proud to show them off, and when we revealed the price....jaws dropped! The best part was I was able to sell my Solomon for more than the price I paid for one of yours.
We also took with us the set of balls we got from you, just to show them off, and to inquire how we might go about getting them approved for sanctioned play. The first comment everyone made was how well they sounded when struck, you had a very good idea of your stroke before looking up. Of course we were not permitted to use them, and we only bought the first colour set anyway, but we wanted people to see that there was something out there that is a worthy rival for Barlow.

There are several excellent mallet makers out there.
Of the makers of traditional mallets, Wood Mallets are hard to beat. They are made in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, but are shipped anywhere. At US$150 each, they are excellent value, and play as well or better than any other traditional mallet that I have yet tried. My mates who play polo say that George Wood’s polo mallets are great too.

I received my mallet on Monday and had a hit with it on Tuesday in less than ideal conditions.... (lawn I was playing on was more like a paddock and weather very humid so hands felt like slipping on bare wood handle)..... my initial feelings about the mallet are very good, and I played a few croquet shots that I would have struggled to achieve with my other mallet (accuracy wise).

Initial impressions of my new mallet. It's very efficient. Power is not a problem. It's 4 ounces lighter that my other mallet but rushes more efficiently and handles all the rolls well. I was playing reasonably well with it pretty much straight out of the box.
It is very stable in it's swing and can handle hitting a bit off centre without any mistracking. It certainly seems to have a larger 'sweet spot'. Stop shot ratios have gone from my usual 1:4 to 1:7 largely with reduction in weight but the handle maintains enough stiffness.
Very positive feel with helps adjustment of shots. The reduction down from a 12" head has resolved the slight digging in problem I had without sacrificing any stability.The new one is more stable. Having such a stable mallet allows considerable weight reduction and this is really noticeable in the amount of extra control I have.
It's got a really nice crisp sound to it. The handle shape gives me good feel. I play with a Solomon grip and the mallet is automatically aligned as soon as I pick it up (this is for roll shots as well). I've put on hockey stick grips that have some padding. It looks fantastic.
It certainly raised a lot of interest over the weekend when I was playing in Perth . The State Coach was impressed with it's swing. I was recently selected to be in the State Team Squad so I'm sure the others will give it quite a look over next squad training.
Only downside: wood is very soft - which just means I have to treat it very gently and definitely no trundling with the sides - I got caught out once. I'd be more than happy to point prospective buyers your way. Thanks again.

I am not sure I can find words that can express how much I lovr\e the Mallet. It far exceeds my expectations in both look and feel. (Especially look). The inlays are beautiful and really make the mallet shine. I love the look on the side with the logo and I am glad we were able to keep it in place. I think that turned out perfect. I am also pleased with our choice for the inlay. I was afraid that it might not match well, but it is exceptional. I can imagine that you will make many more wonderful mallets using this design and I am certain that they will become even better looking in time (but mine can always be the first and for now, in this little moment in time it might actually be one of the best looking mallets in the world. (Okay that may be a bit of an exageration but it sure feels that way to me.)
My kids and I played tonight and they were upset because I now have a lucky mallet. (I always let them win but tonight I kept it really close and they figure the mallet must be lucky.)
We have three girls and a boy with the last due in November - we learned last month she will be a she so my son and I are feeling a bit out numbered. I hope you get your girl they are a lot of fun and awfully cute. Altough they seem to be a bit (no a lot) more demanding.

They were much admired by other club members (except for the one chap who has two of his own and who pointed us in your direction two weeks ago). We will take good care of them - no hitting rocks, etc. - and will keep them in their covers when not in use.
